When LaVerne was eight years old he was
asked by a visiting missionary, "Sonny, what are you going to be when you grow
up?" LaVerne responded, Probably a cowboy." The question was reconsidered
and little LaVerne made a unique choice. The circumstances are worth reading.
A pastor-evangelist since 1944, LaVerne
Tucker served as Vice President and associate speaker of The Quiet Hour from 1954 to 1985,
then as President and speaker from 1985 to 1993. He founded the Search telecast in 1969,
and has served as worldwide evangelist for the last 20 years of his ministry.
Alma has been a constant companion,
working side by side with LaVerne in ministry, whether pastoral, evangelism, Bible
studies, radio, television, or overseas mission work. Her solo voice also blended as first
tenor in The Quiet Hour male quartet and in duets and trios for more than 40 years.
Together LaVerne and Alma have traveled
the world preaching the gospel of hope. Their combined experiences provide inspiration and
serve as a tribute to the glory of Gods "Good News" of salvation to all.
